Volunteer with Compass & make a big difference!

With Volunteer Recognition Day coming up on 20 April, Compass Support would like to thank and acknowledge all the wonderful volunteers helping many community projects that support and empower people to achieve their goals and live a fulfilled life.

The charitable subsidiary of The Pioneer Group is also looking to grow its volunteer pool, so are you looking for something new to do? Thinking about a way to spend a few hours a week helping others and meeting new people? If so, then Compass Support’s employment team has a fantastic opportunity with two new exciting volunteer roles to create networks within the community to spread the word of Compass Support’s employment and training offer.

The first role is for a Community Engagement and Development Volunteer. If you have a passion for building relationships with residents to reduce social isolation, welfare dependency and a lack of training and development opportunities, this may be the role for you. You would be assisting with the delivery of exciting projects such as Get Healthy Get Working, Computer Club and more. You may be asked to befriend job seekers that need some moral support to build their confidence. At other times, you may be speaking with local employers and sourcing job opportunities in the community for jobseekers.

The second role is Administrator and Coordinator Support Volunteer where you can bring your fresh ideas to secure work within the community, also share new ideas to raise awareness of employment projects and support the team. You would be helping to review marketing and promotion strategies to attract target audiences or taking calls for the employment service and contacting the relevant coach with any messages and updates. You may also be helping to organise and run activities such as job fairs and workshops.

Volunteering is a great way to try new things and pass on your skills and knowledge. It has been known to increase self-confidence and combat the effects of stress and anxiety.

Katrina Gordon, Employment Team Leader, said:

Volunteering is a worthwhile way to join us at Compass Support to make lives and communities better while learning some practical skills and making friends in the process. There is always a need for volunteers and offering even the smallest amount of time can make a huge difference in the local community.

Compass Support is continually building on this team of dedicated and passionate volunteers to help deliver its employment projects, whilst working with some of the most vulnerable adults in the local area. Often at times of crisis, Compass Support provides a service that improves lives, whilst focusing on meaningful ways to support personal progression and remove financial hardship.

There are a range of other volunteer opportunities that can be found on Compass Support’s website, including:

  • Parent Ambassador Volunteer
  • Community Hubs Volunteer
  • Befriender Volunteer
  • Community Organiser Volunteer
