Parent Ambassador scheme launches in Falcon Lodge

Compass Support is relaunching its successful Parent Ambassador project to Falcon Lodge.

The charitable arm of The Pioneer Group, Compass Support, is running the project as part of the Lottery Community Fund’s ‘Lottery Reaching Communities’ initiative.

The project aims to harness the power of parent/carer volunteers who will support other parents to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of families living on the Falcon Lodge estate.

Parent Ambassadors create powerful, effective, and positive links with families, helping spread the word about support and services available to help with issues affecting family life today.

Giving local families a voice, Parent Ambassadors listen to residents’ feedback and helping to organise activities that families would benefit from in the area. For example, the ambassadors would run fun days and other activities in the local area, to promote the project and get more people involved.

Prior to COVID-19, the local Ambassadors were promoting their project through school and community forum meetings and helping to meet other parents at coffee mornings at the hub.

Throughout lockdown, Parent Ambassadors have been busy making online links with other local families. They have also formed a partnership with the Castle Vale Parent Champion volunteers and are starting to work to launch initiatives such as the preloved school uniform project. This is similar to the successful Castle Vale clothing project, which helped hundreds of children with good quality used uniform over the past nine months.

As we emerge from lockdown, Compass Support and the existing Parent Ambassadors team are keen to recruit other parent/carer volunteers to the project to create a sustainable network of families offering friendship, help and peer support. The initiative will be delivered from Falcon Lodge Community Hub once lockdown lifts so if any parents are interested, please get in touch.
