Whether that is via employment support to improve employability and move them into a job and financial stability or through bespoke support to enable them to manage their household more effectively and increase their resilience.
We offer a service that enables individuals and couples to remain independent in their own homes, manage their household and improve health and wellbeing and relationships. Support is provided over 6 months to build resilience and enable the development of practical skills while helping with issues specific to health and wellbeing, debt and benefit etc. A goal-focussed support plan is jointly developed to empower the individual/couple to create solutions and achieve sustainable outcomes. Available to any adult household within the B35 postcode.
We provide targeted support via bespoke programmes to improve health and wellbeing. We not only address common issues which can cause poor health and wellbeing but also deal with hidden barriers such as financial issues, loneliness, mental health and unemployment.
This is an initiative with GPs and other organisations within Castle Vale where a patient/service-user is given a ‘social prescription’ which highlights a social issue rather than a clinical one. On referral, the individual would receive an assessment and an action plan which would focus on increasing connections via activities and groups within the area to improve confidence, self-esteem and reduce anxiety, etc.
We offer free and independent information, advice and guidance by trained Employment Support Workers who will treat you as an individual and not a number. We tailor our support to meet your needs and work closely with other organisations, to offer you access to a wide range of additional services. Click here to find out more.
Birmingham has received £6M from the Big Lottery Fund to help make the city a place where older people are valued, supported and have a continuing contribution to make. We manage the Ageing Better Hub in Tyburn to increase opportunities for older adults to make positive and lasting connections within their neighbourhoods. The overall aim of the project is to leave a legacy which will empower the ageing generation to be more resilient in the future. Through greater community connections and collaboration we can improve the health and wellbeing of our ageing city.
Our aim is to create a bank of volunteer Community Organisers who will empower and enable older Tyburn residents to create and engage in opportunities. This will increase connections within neighbourhoods and decrease social isolation and feelings of loneliness in older adults. Funded over two years, this is a test and learn programme that plans to train and support at least 80 local volunteers. It is a key project within the Ageing Better Tyburn Local Area Action Plan which will test what works best in reducing social isolation within Tyburn communities and increase community resilience with regard to social isolation.
