Without a doubt, the last 12 months have been exceptional as well as challenging times for all of us. However, throughout these times there have been people from our local communities, often unseen in the background, working hard to help and support members of the local community.

Volunteers and good neighbours across our community have provided their time and energy in lots of different and inspiring ways.  From providing regular telephone calls to people lonely and isolated, running online virtual coffee mornings, fetching shopping and prescriptions for neighbours, helping out at food banks, through to offering ongoing support to families and young people in crisis.  The list of good deeds and acts of kindness to help people get through the challenges we have faced due to COVID-19 is endless.

Compass Support would like to celebrate and honour the inspiring work local people and volunteers have completed in their community. The Compass Support Volunteer Awards 2021 is a way for us to say a big ‘THANK YOU’ for their achievements during the last year and recognise the huge role they have played within the community

Open to anyone under 18 years old, this category is to recognise a young person who has shown a real commitment to volunteering.  This is for a young person who give up their time to help their community; in school, at youth clubs or a voluntary organisation.

This award is for someone who has volunteered within their community; this could be working at a food bank, helping serve tea and coffee at community events, raising money, helping neighbours with shopping.

No explanation required really, this award is for someone who has gone above and beyond.

This award is for individuals who give support to vulnerable people in our communities and includes mental health, disability and recovery services as well as those for children and older people.

This award is for individuals who have been supportive in lifting our spirits, whether through telephone befriending services, weekly check in’s on the door step, or having been that parental support and helped through many of tasks, like home schooling.

This award is for an organisation or a service that has helped you through sign posting your needs through services, perhaps they arranged support services, or provided them, for example, a food bank.

Open to all groups that have helped your wellbeing, this could be your mental or physical wellbeing. Perhaps an activity group or sports group, or an environmental or gardening, or a parent group that has helped you through

This award is for those helpers that have delivered above and beyond, whether it’s been essential shopping, food parcels, wellbeing packs or even prescription deliveries

This award is for the neighbour that has gone above and beyond for their neighbours, their street or the community. They could be the one that makes sure the street is tidy and litter free, the one that knocks on to check you are okay and if you need anything.

Nominate your hero

Do you know a local resident or volunteer who is a super hero? Someone who has gone that extra mile to help others, or just been there for you when needed?  They can be a friend, a neighbour, a volunteer from an organisation, if they have given up their time to help you or others we would like to hear about them.

Please let us know about their good work by completing the short Compass Support Volunteer Award nomination form below. We will be arranging a special awards ceremony to honour and celebrate all of our local hero’s achievements.
