Lee Crofts

Youth Team Leader

In my role as Youth Team Leader I am responsible for the line management of the Youth Work team, leading in the shaping of youth services offered and making sure that the work being delivered is of a high quality and meeting its need.  I oversee the delivery of work in a number of areas, including universal work in Castle Vale, Falcon Lodge, Erdington, Boldmere and Hodge Hill. I also manage a Targeted Youth Worker who delivers mentoring in Greenwood Academy and Solihull. I work in partnership with local schools, policing teams, community safety and other areas of the Pioneer Group.

The types of Youth Work delivered include open access youth clubs, outreach work, holiday activity programmes, one to one support, issue based sessions, school based work, residential opportunities and youth voice.

A big part of my delivery with young people is focussed on developing young leaders which includes delivering training and creating opportunities for young people to take a lead role in their youth settings and within their local communities.

“I love my job and the fact that I am contributing to making a positive change on young people’s lives. As someone that benefitted from accessing youth work as a young person I feel privileged to be able to do a job where I am able to be an advocate for young people and support in meeting their wants and needs.”

I am JNC qualified which means I got my degree in Youth Work and before coming to Compass I worked for Birmingham City Council for 15 years where I managed a youth centre in Erdington and delivered on lots of projects around social inclusion.
